Time Travel

How could time travel be a thing that exists?

Time travel is an idea that has been around for hundreds of years. There are tons of time travel believers, including Steven Hawking, a famous smart guy or something. But a lot of people believe it simply isn't possible, such as me.

How would time travel be possible? It doesn't seem like something that is possible at all, even with advanced physics and stuff included in this hypothesis. Let's make an example:

Donald Trump was president 5,000 years ago, and he successfully built his very own wall expanding the whole border dividing the United States from Mexico. You, for some reason, don't like this wall. Maybe you have a friend in Mexico you can no longer easily meet up with or something. I don't know your life. But again, you wish this wall didn't exist. Because it's the year 7020 and we have flying cars and time travel 'n shit. Because we have time travel, you realize you are fully able to stop Donald Trump from building his wall.

So you hop into your time machine that you bought with your eighteen trillion future dollars, and go to the year 2020, when Donald Trump passes the bill or something that makes wall building possible. You go and tell Donald that building the wall would cause mass destruction.

Little do you know that mass destruction is exactly what Donald wants. So while you are there in 2020 enduring Donald's mass destruction, your friend decided to finish the job for you. So your friend, lets call him Jimbob McGook, decides to get in his four hundred future dollar shitbox Timelan time machine, and goes to 2020. He finds Donald, and, instead of telling him that it would cause mass destruction, tells him that it would cause world peace.

World peace is the complete opposite of what Donald wants. So he decides not to build his wall, taking word from a complete stranger that somehow got passed the seemingly endless lines of security. The world lives in peace.

Here's the problem: because you went back and stopped Donald from building his wall, there never would have been a wall. Because there was never a wall, you wouldn't have went back and stopped Donald from building his wall because it doesn't exist. But if you never went and stopped him from building his wall, he never would have not built his wall.

It's like a big paradox. Schrodinger's time machine or something. Of course, this doesn't account for multiple timelines and stuff. But are we sure that our universe, our dimension, can handle multiple timelines? Just like a computer, it's only equipped with a certain amount of power. If we just start creating timelines all willie nillie, something is bound to go wrong. Our reality as we know it, the entire third dimension, might collapse. I don't know. I'm not a time scientist.
